Why Choose Fibre Clay Pots?

Posted on September 24, 2021

Pot gardening in containers is becoming popular with many gardeners at home and now many fine clay pots are available to purchase from the high street or online retailers. There is a growing interest in a low maintenance method of gardening and the first thing to do is to have a look at what container gardening can achieve for you. By creating your own food, no soil is needed. No fertiliser is needed either so you can save money on many gardening products. The best part of container gardening is that you can plant anything you want, at any stage of life.

With a modern day gardener the desire to eat the same fresh, green vegetables as he/she grew up is very common. So why not try growing some in pots? The ease of use of fired clay garden pots is one of the best reasons for planting them. You simply lay the pot on the floor and fill with the soil. You can plant annuals, perennials and flowering annuals depending on your preference.

Potting soil in containers is similar to planting it in the ground. It provides the nutrients and moisture required by the plants. With modern day vegetable gardens, people tend to plant more seeds than they need. This causes them to over-feed their plants and if they have not been given enough moisture and nutrients the result is often a stressed and unhealthy plant. With a pot, however, you can give just the right amount of water and nutrients. That is one of the reasons fibre clay garden pots are so popular.

Once the plant has grown in the pots, you can remove the pots and plant the seeds directly into the garden. This eliminates the risk of over-feeding. In addition, there is no fear of weeds taking up all the water. In general, fire clay planters take up much less water and fertiliser than other pots. With today’s hectic lifestyles, that is a huge plus!

Most garden pots will hold between three and six cups of soil. As the name suggests, clay has excellent drainage properties and does not let water seep through. Clay also absorbs moisture quickly. Therefore, you will not have to wait for the weather to be very wet before you can put your plants into the garden pots.

If you live in an area where summers are hot and winters are cold, you can store your plants in the planters during the bad winter months. When spring comes, just dig them out of the clay and move them into the garden. The good thing about these pots is that they will retain the warmth better than plastic planters. If you want to save energy, you can place a plant in the pots right after the winter. Your plants will not be affected because they were protected.

Another advantage of using clay pots is that they are more fire resistant than plastic or metal ones. You do not need to worry about your plant being burnt if it touches the underside of the pot. They are also fireproof, meaning that you do not have to worry about your plant being destroyed if it is nearby a lit flame. These pots are also dishwasher friendly. Just make sure to wash off any soap residue when you are finished using your garden planter. These pots are also made from natural clay, so you do not have to worry about harmful chemicals leeching into the soil and polluting the water table.

If you want to add something special to your garden, such as clay pots, you can have these specially designed pots customised to your specifications. Most companies will be happy to take your order and create a pot just for you. When you choose clay pots, you will be adding something very useful to your garden that is unique in its look. It will be a conversation piece and will withstand the elements for many years.
