Which Are the Best Rails and Planter Boxes?

Posted on June 5, 2021

When choosing an apartment garden planters box, length is one important factor to consider. Landscaping plans are generally for square or rectangular patios, but balconies may work well, too. Keep width in mind when selecting the style of the planters. Usually, balconies are wider than patios.

Railing Depth. The railing planter boxes should fit securely on the foundation. It may be anchored in the ground, nailed to the walls, or screwed into the floor. The classic whiskey barrel planters in a distressed black finish with aged pewter colored brass bands would fit well with any of these choices. Bright colorful flowering plants, like red (Dianthus, red roses), pink (Carnation, pansies blooms quickly), or white; all these also do go well with this beautiful railing planter box.

Materials. Some of the most popular railing planter boxes are made from wrought iron, aluminum, and plastic. Wood is a nice, but not the best choice for balconies, for several reasons. For one, wood can rot from the rain, which means wet leaves falling from the sky on the ragged side of your balcony, instead of resting on the flat, shiny surface beneath it. Secondly, because the weather is so temperate, the exposed sides of these planters swell, warp, and rot quickly, requiring repeated treatments to keep them looking their best.

Instead, many people today use railing planters that are made of lightweight, easy to maintain materials, such as heavy duty plastic. You can find this in either black white, or pewter finishes. Plastic railings and planters allow you to enjoy the lovely look of greenery, without the maintenance. Not only that, but because these types of railing planter boxes are easy to install, and removable; you can move your balconies around should you wish.

Ranging in size from four-foot, two eight-foot, two sixteen-foot, you can find these sizes on any given site, just about anywhere. One nice feature is that there are enough choices for any style, color, and occasion. For example, you might decide to go with an ornamental planter for a garden, or a flowering plant for your deck. A colorful flowering plant with a two-inch railing length will fit nicely alongside a two-inch wooden rail. In the same instance, you might choose a potted plant, or a hanging pot.

If you’re not sure what styles are available and want to save a few dollars, many companies offer pre-designed planters. Just like with the ready-made planters, they usually come in one of the standard planter box sizes. However, there are also extra large sizes available. These can be perfect for your outdoor entertaining, or to cover an entire walkway. Of course, if you want to save even more money, there are some pre-made planter boxes that are slightly larger.

Many individuals love to plant flowers in their flower garden, and would like to have something pretty to accent their garden rail. Since there are numerous different styles of garden railings, it’s hard to know which are the best railing planters. Luckily, there are many websites that have all the information you need. They carry all the different styles and also offer prices for them, so you can compare which ones are the best.

Also, if you don’t want to buy a ready-made garden railing planter box, or one of the pre-made ones, you can always find something beautiful to fill it with herbs and vegetables. There are many different colors, shapes, and sizes available. They usually come in two colors: one color to plant herbs in, and a second color to decorate the box with. You can plant whatever you’d like inside it, whether it’s fresh vegetables, orchids, and more. Whatever you’d like to put in it is completely up to you, but it looks fabulous!
