However, you can also find many hardy natives that have resistance against some of the pests and diseases that are common in the United States. The next step is to put the seeds in a mixing container and water well. The seeds need to soak up as much water as possible, but not drown. Overwatering will kill the plants. Once the container has absorbed enough water, cover the top with plastic, and place inside a dark covered box or plastic bag. You should leave the seeds in the container for about four weeks.
