An Easy Garden in a Jar Terrarium

Posted on May 16, 2021

So you want to learn about creating a magical garden in a jar? You can use beautiful containers to create a garden that is magical, simple and cheap to do. There are many different types of terrariums available and they can be made from glass, terracotta, clay or plastic. The following are just some ideas for using a terracotta jar to create a garden and will bring a feeling of magic to your own home.

A terrarium design using a Mason jar is easy and inexpensive to do. To begin with you will need to purchase a plain glass jar; make sure it has a good quality base so that it does not shatter or break easily. You can then find terrarium plants, rocks and other items to fill the jar with inside.

There are terrarium plants that grow at a very slow pace and these can be bought in garden nurseries. This will add a special look to your terrarium and you can even add soil and fertilizer. You can buy terrarium plants that are already prepared or you can prepare the plants yourself. Just remember to add extra water and light and your terrarium plants will grow beautifully.

You can fill the jar with gravel or sand and place soil on top. You can then add your terrarium plants and water well. This is an easy and inexpensive way to add life to your garden. Just keep your terrarium plants in the jar and water them every few days to ensure they are growing properly.

To save money, plan on making several terrarium plants at once. This will help you save time and money. The kit can be obtained from pet stores or specialist suppliers. If you have a larger terrarium or room to house several terrarium plants, you may want to consider growing them in containers. Simply place an empty terrarium in a glass or plastic container and fill with rocks, soil and a food supply. You can then provide a couple of artificial light sources and bring your terrarium plants through the process of growth.

You can also have fun by decorating and rearranging your terrarium plants. You could try creating a mosaic with several different terrarium jars. This would look great in an area where the light is getting stronger during the day and there are several plants providing some protection from the elements. Using jars as a garden can give you the chance to expand and experiment with a wide variety of terrarium plants.

Keep in mind that plants within a terrarium are still exotic animals, so be sure to separate plant cells from each other and the terrarium itself. This will make it much easier for you to identify problems such as fungal growths and leaf discolorations. This can be done with either a light or heat source. Carefully take care of your terrarium plants inside the jar by keeping it clean and watered while you monitor its health. Some plants inside a terrarium, especially herbs, need a little bit of humidity to thrive, so be sure to provide this type of environment.

As you can see, a garden in a jar terrarium is quite versatile and doesn’t require much maintenance. In fact, it’s easy to set up and it only takes a few minutes each day. Once your plants are established, you will only have to water them occasionally. The price for this hobby is well worth the time and effort it takes to provide your garden with a beautiful look. Be prepared, because your garden in a jar terrarium won’t look like a garden on the outside. It will be hidden just like the roots.
