Adult Venus Fly Trap

Posted on May 25, 2021

The Venus fly trap or VFT for short, is more commonly known as the fly trap and it’s a carnivorous plant that is quite amazing in appearance. It was first dubbed as a mystery plant due to its peculiar mechanism of capturing flies and other insects on its leaves. The VFL has four long tubular leaves that look like they’re on a stem. These leaves have small flower buds at the tip.

The strange-looking plant has attracted many people to it and many amateur naturalists have taken a shine to it. The main reason for this is that the method used to catch flies using the flytraps can be easily duplicated in your own terrarium. In fact, you can create your own system and use it several times. This means that there is no question as to why amateur naturalists are enticed to plant carnivorous plants in their terrarium.

Many people may think that the adult Venus fly trap plants are just there to make our lives easier. However, you should know that the plant can actually help improve your ecosystem. This is because when the flies are caught in the traps, there is nothing to eat hence there will be less of them floating around in your water. Also, there are smaller fishes in the tank, which means that it will be easier to feed them.

The way that these traps work is simple. Like all other flies, the adult fly gets stuck into the trap and is unable to fly away. But as it does not have wings, it can squeeze its body through the tiny opening. Once inside, the body gains access to all the nutrients and minerals in the water. Hence, if the owner of the flytrap decides to remove the trapped fly, there will be a huge problem in terms of getting the insects out again.

There are flytraps which come with lights. This is very handy during the night. Not only does it attract more flies, it also deters mosquitoes from hovering around. These insects are attracted by the light and hence if they do come near your flytrap, the light emits and they leave. If you are using a natural method to repel mosquitoes, then this is definitely a wise investment.

Apart, from attracting more flies and mosquitoes, some of the natural insect traps also have ghosts in them. You can opt for a dark colored trap with a ghostly figure trapped inside. This will definitely spook the insects. If you live in an area with a lot of human activity, then you may want to use the electric fly traps as these would deter most of the human activities. If you live in an area where there are a lot of wildlife, then you may want to opt for the glow worm type of fly traps which emit light and chase the fly that crosses its path.

Adult Venus fly traps also have the ability to release scent when they are disturbed. The smell of the insects attracts other flies and mosquitoes. As it attracts insects, your yard and garden will smell like a whole new world! This is a very convenient way to control the insect population that has overrun your home. You don’t have to spend hours outdoors spreading the poison around or washing all the clothes!

Fly trap plants are perfect for creating an artificial habitat for the birds and other small animals in your yard. However, before you buy a fly trap for your house, make sure you check the company’s reputation. Also be aware of the different types of traps and their uses, so that you won’t end up buying one that isn’t meant for the environment. So now you have the opportunity to create a safer environment for yourself and your family.
