Posted on August 4, 2021

Did you know there are some good uses for microgreens? In this article I am going to discuss some of the best uses for microgreens and some things that you need to know before planting these. These little plants grow very well and make a beautiful addition to any garden. When growing them it is important to remember that they prefer a cooler climate and do better in soil that has clay or rock, rather than that which is full of organic matter.

The microgreens that you can plant look very much like lettuce, cilantro and chives. If you have never grown these types of plants before then they are easy to grow. Microgreens can be planted from seed, however if you are just starting out then you might want to try growing them using tiny plants. You can purchase microgreens at most garden centers or even in your local supermarket. When eating microgreens they should not be chewed as they will be very bitter.

The best way to eat these types of green is by using a fork. Try eating them like lettuce instead of like chives. Just remember that they taste much better raw than cooked and they are also good if you have a craving for something bitter like mayonnaise. You can eat microgreens like candy, in salads, on sandwiches or with almost any other dish.

As vegetable microgreens are similar to the greens we all know. You just tear off the leaves and bite off the top. Since microgreens are small you can toss them in salads, over salads, on a small sandwich or on any other vegetable dish. They are a great addition to a salad and they will keep the other ingredients in the salad from getting damaged like some other vegetables can. If you want to add more flavor to your salad then you can drizzle on some olive oil and sesame oil.

Diced up microgreens make a great snack food. You can take a small handful and mix it with any kind of yogurt that you like. Most yogurt will have no problem with this recipe. This makes a great base to add some nuts or salsa to. You can even try putting chopped up microgreens in a blender and adding some fruit. The added taste can be quite unique and be a lot of fun to consume.

Diced up baby spinach is one of the best ways to eat microgreens. You can either buy fresh baby spinach that has been chopped up or you can buy bok choy that is already chopped up. Either way you will have some great tasting leafy greens that are full of nutritional value. Microgreens can help to lower cholesterol because they contain all eight of the required vitamins and are also high in potassium. Potassium helps to regulate muscle contractions which keeps the heart pumping and gives you a healthy body.
