Growing Alstroemeria For Cut Flowers

The Alstroemeria is a genus of annuals native to Central Europe. It’s a perennial that can grow up to two meters tall. It’s a Dutch plant with a dark green color on pale blue-green leaves. The flowers look like marigolds with large blooms and are long lasting. The plant grows best in partial shade and can tolerate some light shade.

This is an easy flower garden plant for the novice gardener. Growing it from cut flowers can be accomplished fairly easily. If you live in a location with cool summers, you will find that the flowers will bloom better when planted in the shade. For best results try planting them during the coolest part of the year. They will also do well if planted in partial to full shade during the hot part of the season.

There are four species of Alstroemeria. All but one of them are drought tolerant plants. In addition they’re hearty plants, which makes it very enjoyable to have in your flower garden. The remaining three species can survive in dry to medium conditions. Alstroemeria trimacula, Alstroemeria cordata, and Alstroemeria brands are the different types that can be used for growing cut flowers. All four are beautiful and hardy plants.

When planting any flower garden the most important consideration is water. Your flower garden will not thrive if the soil does not get enough water. Make sure you don’t forget to water the roots as well. When using seed plants be sure to use high quality mixes. Most reputable flower garden stores sell excellent mixes.

Once you’ve decided on the type of plant you would like to grow and planted it in the flower garden, the next step is to determine what you are going to do with it once it grows up. Alstroemeria for cut flower is a beautiful plant. It’s delicate growth lends itself to being placed in many different arrangements. You can train your plant to take certain paths, or you can place it in a pot in the shape of a heart so that it blooms.

Alstroemeria for cut flowers is a plant that has a long history. It was actually the first plant recorded being used in flower gardening. It was developed in Egypt and brought back with them across the Red Sea. It was a popular plant with the Pharaohs and was even used to decorate the buildings where they were kept. When the Egyptian pharaohs were gone the flower and its beauty faded away. However, in recent years the popularity of this exotic flower has begun to again grow.

Alstroemeria for cut flowers is a fast growing plant. It will grow in almost any type of soil and with very little attention required it can be moved around as often as you please. You can place it in your flower garden if you like, but it will grow better if you put it in a pot or container on the ground next to other plants that need to have their roots tied down. If you have ever taken a plant that needs to be tied down to a stake to prevent it from spreading out then you know that these are not good plants to use in pots.

Alstroemeria for cut flowers is a beautiful flower that can be enjoyed by everyone. It doesn’t matter whether you are going to plant it in a flower garden or in a container on your patio. This exotic plant will add color to any area it is in. It is fast growing, easy to maintain, and very beautiful.
